Speculation: Fright Night

Oh look, the first post in the Padded Cell Party. First of all, how did the Padded Cell Party come to be, you ask? The Padded Cell Pary was born from two insane movie lovers' view of new movies coming out. We have a lot of fun speculating new movies before they hit the theater and decided it was time to share. We also do are fair share of reviews of new DVDs. And some times some old favorites.

So as the Evil One, I'd like to share my first speculation.

Fright Night 2011

Colin Ferral, David Tennet and Anton Yelchin

I have this soft weakness, for the original. With Prince Humperdink playing the vampie and venerable actor Rodny MacDowell playing Vincent. There's something so 80s, about the movie. Something oddly entertaining. Mostly I think it was just Rodney MacDowell. So I came across, lately, in May that they'd remade the movie. I was a little wry of the fact that Colin Ferral had been cast as the vampire. It irks me a bit, but at the same time, from what I've seen in the trailer, he had a lot of fun playing such an evil bastard.

I kinda had my eye on the fact that Anton Yelchin was in, as I thought he made an adorable Chekov...oh come on, it was the hobbit look! But I really did want to see him in more movies.

But the clencher, was David Tennant. Oh Mr. Tennant, what a tangle web you weave. 4 years and 8 months as the most awesome Time Lord from Gallifran has been good to you. When I'd heard he was playing Rodney MacDowell's role in this movie was immediately on the edge of my seat.

And the reviews are saying he stole the show. Surprised? No, of course not. Playing an alcoholic magican and self proclaimed vampire hunter, I can see a lot of potential for serious badassery. And the poster, really delievers that punch.

So will I be seeing it? Oh hell yeah. Will I rant if it sucks? For a week out of respect for Mr. Tennant. We'll just have to wait and see.
